Aquatic Attraction and Waterpark Lifeguard candidates must be:
1) 15 years of age
2) Be able to demonstrate 300-yards continuous swim, using the front crawl and breaststroke
3) Tread water for 2-minutes without using arms,
4) Able to retrieve a 10-lb weight from 3-feet of water, and then swim 20-yards, with legs only.
5) A current Lifeguard
The new Red Cross Aquatic Attraction and Waterpark Lifeguarding course trains lifeguards specifically guarding attractions in extreme shallow water, defined as three feet or less.
This includes winding rivers, catch pools, slide run-outs, water play areas and slide dispatch. The Red Cross is the only aquatics training provider to offer this type of instruction and this particular designation of lifeguarding.
Upon successful completion of the Aquatic Attraction and Waterpark Lifeguarding course, candidates will receive an American Red Cross Waterpark Lifeguard Training certification valid for 2 years.
